I didn’t follow the typical path into Tech. I studied Interior Design in university, where I developed a deep understanding and appreciation for layout, visual balance, and how thoughtful and accessible design can influence how people interact with and interpret a space. I'm so grateful that I can take a lot of the principles that I learned from designing physical spaces, and apply them to a digital space.
If I'm being honest, my roots in programming go way back— I'm talking dial-up internet days. The landscape of what we now know as "social media" in the early 00's was completely different from what it is now. It meant experimenting with very basic HTML, CSS (and occasionally JavaScript) as a creative way to express ourselves. That innocent start had me memorizing how to build web interfaces for fun before I even knew what 'front-end' meant.
While my interest for creative and logical expression initially led me in a different direction, innovation has always been at my core.
In a field defined by constant change, the limitless opportunities for creativity and growth in technology continue to challenge, refresh, and inspire me. The pivot from building codes to building code has been a full-circle journey! I’ve been bringing projects to life on and off the internet, and now, I get to do it with intention, creativity, and just the right amount of ... sass.
Outside of programming, you can usually find me spending time with friends and loved ones, at the gym or in the mountains, camping or traveling, winding down with a glass of wine and whatever sport / documentary / series / movie / book that I'm obsessed with in that moment, and experimenting with recipes or design ideas over a good cup of coffee.
